New Video- Church Community Services

Church Community Services, of Elkhart, IN approached me about making a promotional video for them. Time was short- I would be moving across the country in 2 weeks. Budget was tight- as a non-profit, they were cash-strapped, and needed to devote their money to helping their clients. I was able to work with these constraints to deliver this promotional video. Also, a reminder that you can watch my other video projects here.

New Video- Convention 2009 Preview

For the last few months, I’ve been working on a preview of the next Mennonite Church USA Convention. Here’s the end result:

The producers wanted a shorter, easier to access, and more fun preview than they had gotten in previous years, and that’s what they got!

Compressor2Attachment Applescript

I’ve always been intrigued by the option in Compressor to run an AppleScript when the Compression is done. It seems so full of possibilities.

Yet it doesn’t seem like it’s used very often. In searching the web, it was hard to find any good uses for this function. So, I decided to try and see what I could make.

So I’m happy to announce the release of Compressor2Attachment version 1.0. It will take your freshly compressed file and email it as an attachment to whoever you wish, automatically, and without any help from you.

Well, it will take some set up. One of my goals for this is to get more people working on this, and seeing how easy it actually is to make something that will make your work a lot simpler. So to set it up, you’ll need to get into Script Editor and make some changes. But don’t worry, they’ll be very simple ones, and hopefully explained in the Script notes.

So download by clicking here: Compressor2Attachment.dmg.

I would love your feedback on how to make it more helpful, or ideas for other helpful scripts to run from Compressor.

Notes: This has not been extensively tested. I know that it works with single files on Leopard. You will need to have your Mail set up, as it sends it through your default account. Please test it for yourself before using it for anything important. If you do not edit the script and change the recipient’s email address, you will receive an email response reminding you to do so.

Fuerza wins a Telly Award!

I’m happy to announce that Fuerza has won a Silver Telly Award! I was the Editor and a Producer on this project, which was released in November 2006.

This is the highest yearly award that the Telly’s give, and past winners in the documentary category include Current TV, Broadway Video (founded by Lorne Michaels of SNL fame), Discovery Health, National Geographic, ESPN, The Weather Channel, and more.

Fuerza showing at 4f Film Festival

Fuerza will be shown this Friday night as part of 4F (First Fridays Film Festival). We’re returning to the place
we premiered, Goshen Theater, in downtown Goshen. We’ll be talking a little before the film plays at 6:20. We’ll also be hanging around and selling some DVDs. There will be about 40 different shorts and movies playing, all for free, so stop by even if you have seen Fuerza 20+ times.

MAMA, Gabriel, and more videos up

I just revamped the video section of the site to include about twice as many videos. I’ve dug up old goodies like Gabriel, and others are some of the more recent projects I hadn’t put on the site yet, like the El Proyecto MAMA promotional video from last summer, and the CAC videos from late August.

I also linked to a bunch of the work I’ve done for Goshen’s TV production unit, including some more games. Check out the new video portfolio page to see them all!

Another Soccer Video Edited

This was the second soccer video I edited for the college, and it was the hardest conceptually, as our college lost. How do you show this as a positive thing while still telling the story? It’s incredibly hard to tell the story of a soccer game in a minute, especially with limited angles (we only had two cameras at the game, and both were shooting about the same thing.)
So check it out. It’s the Men’s Soccer Highlights from MCC Tournament – Finals vs. Indiana Wesleyan University.

Tonight I’m heading to Notre Dame to hear Gustavo Gutierrez speak.
